Becky Lim: Patternista
Patternista is the registered business name and trade mark of Byron Bay based Designer Becky Lim.
Becky grew up in an English market town, amongst an eccentric family. She attributes a good proportion of her creative flair to her mother and Grandmother (Muriel Taylor), a bespoke Tailor of "Fine Gentleman's Suiting".
Other Family members include her extraordinary Uncle (Richard Taylor), talented maker of Clavichords & Spinnets; her brother (Harvey Lim), former Norwich City and Gillingham professional soccer player - now Director/Owner of Whistler's Art Junction Gallery, and her amazing father - former restaurateur and the best darn Asian chef in the world!
"I have been illustrating and creating since I can remember, and put these pursuits into practice after studying textiles in the UK, and Surface Print/Textile Design at RMIT Melbourne. Whilst in Melbourne I exhibited at Craft Victoria's "Scarf Competition" and won RMIT's "Bread and Butter" Design Award, judged by Abigail Crompton of Third Drawer Down. I also secured treasured placements at Vixen Australia (under Georgia Chapman), in her former silk printing studio, and at Ulster Weavers/Irish Linen (Belfast), working on homewares lines for iconic British store: Harrods".
Becky is now blessed to be living in the paradise of Byron Bay, Northern NSW. Surrounded by nature, sea and bush, this environment is her whole hearted inspiration for creating her unique prints and jewellery.
Becky is the only NON-Canadian artist featured at Art Junction due to her blood relation to gallery owner and operator.
