British Columbia is a land steeped in natural beauty, rich in fertile farmlands, containing a wilderness paradise; a country of water and woods, where the mighty Columbia River and the hasty Fraser spring up in the Rocky Mountains trench and pursue their separate ways to sea.
Fascinated by the might and beauty, gigantic dimensions, the mystery and silence of the natural wonders that remained unspoiled, I chose to record my impressions and memories from my traveling across the province in these prints by using the aquatint technique.
This demanding technique, which involves applying fine rosin dust when etching a plate, allows for the achievement of subtle tonal gradations and creates a dreamy tranquility and suspended drama of the scene.
