Fred Peters
Fred Peters paints vivid, fun portrayals of westcoast life. His acrylic paintings feature bold colours, strong sweeping loose brush strokes and often unique exaggerated perspectives.
Born and raised on Vancouver Island, Fred is inspired by all of his surroundings, particularly nature and architecture.
A self-taught artist, he began painting in 1996 as a way to occupy his evenings while working predominantly out of town as a heavy equipment operator on road construction projects. In this short time, Fred has developed a recognizable style that has won him numerous awards leading to his work now being eagerly sought after and collected around the world.
"“Art stimulates the senses and our minds. I know for myself as an artist, it has made me more aware of my surroundings. I see everything with a renewed interest. Forms, colors, composition, details and light. The process of creating art is both stimulating and relaxing. There is an excitement and intensity as the work progresses from that glimmer of an idea to the fruition of the finished piece. My paintings are vivid, colourful and loose. There is no deep inner meaning or reason for my work, other than a joyous expression of appreciation for what I see around me. I paint landscapes and urban scenes that are fun to look at. I hope the pleasure I get from creating my art transcends to those who experience my art.”"
